Gentle breath of time

What happens when we look so closely that we forget what we are seeing? 'Gentle Breath of Time' is an invitation to this meditation. By photographing my mother's skin in extreme close-ups, I transform it into universal matter. The skin becomes tree bark, a sand dune, crumpled paper. The individual body disappears to give way to an essay on impermanence, the beauty of decay, and the delicacy with which time leaves its signatures. It is a reminder that we are made of the same matter as the world, and that aging is simply nature's way of gently reclaiming us.
